book and people says they can and do hit the 3 meter mark and get over 150 kgs :shock: :shock: :shock:

One of the species of this genus is Aractosteus spatula, known also as alligator gar. The image you see here, identified by the words "Alligator Gar. Moon Lake, Mississippi. March 1910," is used by special permission: Neg. No. 117075, Photographer D. Franklin, Courtesy Dept. of Library Services, American Museum of Natural History. This fish was about ten feet long.

The rod and reel world record alligator gar weighed 290 lb, and the trot line, or unrestricted division record weighed 302 lb. Both were caught in the Rio Grande River back in the 1950s, and measured a little over 7-1/2 ft in length.

have you been 2 the 1 in ferndown (stapehill) maidenhead?
thats a good place, only thing with them is most of there fish are "not 4 sale" as they are pet shop pets :?

the best place round here you can go is Wilton. :D
its a small shop but the guy there knows evrything there is to know about fish. the shop is phat, you go out the back and the tank set up he's got is just mad!!! :eek:mg:
its called PT Aquatics, buy the market square, you should go visit him.
i always phone him if i need some advice or help.
he's even saved the live of my Yoda, bless him, he knows his stuff!!!! :thankyou:

iv been there, not my cup'a, there is a back room but the tanks are all no bigger that a foot, and he is no longer getting in Cic anymore after the 1s he has has sole through.

porton might not be as good as service as him but they are still a frendly bunch (4 me any ways)

porton price 4 a albino brichardi £3 :p

i wouldnt use porton again.
thats where i when wheni brought my tank.
the advice they gave me was crap, the fish they said were best for beginers were prob the worst and they were no help when i had problems :cry:

all people find diff things diffrent to other people, but that dont mean there not right (i hate advocado's and celery LOL :wink: )

yep, thats my name.

they advised me that the best starter fish were gouarmies, they only sold me males and all they did was fight.
they also said guppies and again all they did was fight and die!!!!

when i phoned them for advice they couldnt help me with anything, any problems with the water etc there were crap.

they didnt tell me out about cycling the water and theysaid that after 2 days witht the water in the new tank it would be k to put the fish inb!!!

But, Fiona, only a few lfs know about cycling.:wink2: All they know are instant potions of bacteria sources.:mrgreen:
