You're too kind. All is well! Love your fish tank btw! <3
You're making me appreciate sand substrate.
It's "Pool Filter Sand" that I got from the local Spa shop. It's cheap and there's absolutely no additives. It doesn't look half-bad either in my opinion. I can give you the brand name if you are interested. You're making me appreciate sand substrate.
It has a bright, natural look compared to what I'm using. Is it cleaned in the standard way? It's "Pool Filter Sand" that I got from the local Spa shop. It's cheap and there's absolutely no additives. It doesn't look half-bad either in my opinion. I can give you the brand name if you are interested.

Are you talking about the cleaning process of the sand itself at the factory? Or when it's in the tank?(siphoning)It has a bright, natural look compared to what I'm using. Is it cleaned in the standard way?
In the tank. The thickness (2-3 inches?) coupled with the relativity small particles would same to require different measures than we're use to.Are you talking about the cleaning process of the sand itself at the factory? Or when it's in the tank?(siphoning)
I have it at 3in and in some places 4in. Of course when you first get it you have to rinse it thoroughly. I do this in a bucket and once the water goes clear I know I've gotten most of not all the particulate matter out. Then it's ready to go.In the tank. Oh and to answer your question, I just siphon it normally if I have to. You learn to be gentle with the suction. To be honest I don't really have to because the whole tank is planted. 0ppm nitrates pretty much all the time. I'm sure you know the benefits of plants already. There's also other ways to keep the sand sifted and turned like having Corydoras, oh and also Malaysian trumpet snails. In the tank.
