So one of my platies gave birth last night to 7 fry in a breeding trap and this morning I moved them into the fry tank with the last batch, who are 4 weeks old. The weird thing is that they are nearly identical in size, and some of them are bigger!! I read that platy fry come out about 1/2 cm long, and the last batch were all about that size, but some of these new ones are over a centimeter!! If they had been born in the tank rather than the trap, I would automatically assume that they were from an earlier batch. They don't even look like newborn fry, except for the colouring (or lack of). And only 7? The mother was extremely fat! Bigger than the last one who gave birth to 30+ fry. I was thinking there would be at least 40 in there, but it was just these few giant babies.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?
