Hi, I'm from PA. Cold here right now. My first tanks give me a sense of being at the beach. Tranquility. I've had a freshwater 20 gal tank for about 4-5 years. All my fish have names. They are a part of my family just as my dogs. I have 3 of them. Sheba a Sheba Inu she's 19 years old. We more or less saved her from a flee infested Amish farmer from Lancaster. She was the runt of the pack so that comes along with an ego. Blackie is 9 years old a half black lab half boxer. People are intimidated by her looks. She's a brickhouse. She is the sweetest baby around. Would love to curl up on your lap, but weights 80lbs! Our last pup is Kikka. She is a Siberian Husky. Both eyes are blue. Her famous Grandmother was in the movie sled dogs. She is even more of a baby then Blackie. Our son holds her like a baby and she loves it. She can be mysterious at times. If she is out she is always on a leash, I feel as she would run. Run like Forrest Gump, just because.
I'm new to saltwater. Always wanted one. My son got me my freshwater tank for Christmas years ago and this past Christmas he got me a new 40 gal tank. 40 gals doesn't sound like much, but its still a decent size. We set it up, left it sit for about a week. Everything was fine added fish. Our first fish was a dog fish puffer, we had it for a week and it died. Yes, we had it for 7 days and I cried. These little puffers are so personable. I would pet it every day. It would come right to me. They do have teeth, i've been nipped at. But its tiny little face, you would look at it and it was like you could see someone in there. Looked like our dog Blackie. We added other fish and they died also. We now only have a Red Wrasse. It's hanging in there. Our ammonia levels are out of control and I have red/brown algea/bacteria. I read some where to shut the lights off for 3 days. One day down and the algea/bacteria is already almost gone. Amazing. So I'm wondering what color lights I should be having on to keep this red/brown stuff to stay away? I have an LED light so right now I only have the blue light on and have a blanket over the tank to keep it dark. So that's what I have. And I'm an emotional wreck over my salt tank. Hate having to flush fish. They are people too! haha They become a part of my family. (The ones that don't talk back anyhow.) I know it says not to discuss my aquarium issues. I didn't do this for answers, just who I am and where I am at. I will post other stuff in forums. This was just a way of showing the attachment you can get with your fish. I'm a sensitive person who is attached to all living things.

Other then my animals I am married for almost 32 years. Jeez's that makes me sound old but i'm not, only 52. I have two kids Ryan a beautiful young woman, and Kyle my son, who is still waiting for that right girl, he is very picky. I also have 1 Grandson Aiden, who I love with all my heart. So HELLLLO Tropical Fish Keeping Community! I'm excited to be here and learn.

Welcome!

I'm pretty new here myself. I love to look at saltwater tanks but I've never owned one. So I am interested in following your tank.

Hopefully after you ask your questions on the saltwater section of the site, someone knowledgeable can help you figure out what's going on.
