Talking Pond fish eggs

hey all
it's eggie season, and i would like to harvest some eggs,
and hatch them indoors,i'm expecting some pretty colours.
any advise would be gratefully accepted.thanks. x

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I would use an aquarium with a sponge filter, you can inoculate it with bacteria from your current pond filter. You may want to use a dose of methylene blue to keep fungus to a minimum but I have had success without it just a fewer hatch out. the key is to keep the water clean after hatching so be ready for some frequent water changes.

hi
thank you for replying, they mainly appear to have gone white inside,
which i have always believed meant that they are no good.
so,i have not harvested anymore,i shall wait until there is fry
in the pond, and decide if i want to have a couple indoors.
i was really looking forward to the thrill of hatching...oh well.

Sorry to hear that, I bet you will be prepared for the next batch though, its nice to be able to cherry pick the nice ones and keep them inside for a while.
