Can I bury a stock tank?

I want to put some guppies outside but it's still cold out. I'm hoping if I bury a stock tank like this one that the earth's core temp will keep the water at least 50 degrees. Does that sound right? What if I put a piece of clear plastic over it to make a mini green house?

Please have a look at my freshwater aquarium blog.

The stable temperature zone is probably about 30 feet deep.
Here is a site that explains it all.
Ground Temperatures as a Function of Location, Season, and Depth

A greenhouse type scheme will need temperature controlled vents. The temperature can swing wildly.
