Cats are generally low maintenance, especially if they're a cat and not a kitten. Maybe go to your local shelter/pound and take a look around? See if there are any lazy guys there? They only really require litter changes every now and then and food and water. They tend to take care of themselves.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Trust me, I want one. But my nephew is allergic (asthmatic) so I can't really do that. Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I will wait until I move out (one year from now)

I am an aquarium caretaker in socal, with a past in saltwater and freshwater. I also used to work at a tropical fish store.

Do you have outdoor space? If so I'd suggest some small hens or quails. They only need some space to roam around during the day, something to scratch through and somewhere to roost they're actually very loving if you handle them from a young age.

I've never had any problems with 'Impulse Buying'. They're just animals that I forgot I had planned to get.
