    Hi Bob: Appreciate your response. Have to agree most of us overfeed. Will put my crew on a day a week fasting and think they will be fine.

    Been trying to send u a PM just haven't figured out the system yet. Have to agree most of us overfeed. Notice this whenever I vac the feeding areas every other day. Will start adhering to a weekly fast day and see how they do. Appreciate your input.

    Sorry it took so long for me to update you on the result of cycling my betta tank. After our last conversation I continued to have high nitrite and nitrate readings. So I took a chance and torn down the tank and started anew. Instead of using Seachem Stability I went out and purchased Aqua Safe Start. Within 3 days the tank was completely cycled and ready for my betta. It has been 5 days now and the betta is doing fine. Tested the water and this are the results.


    Ammonia....0
    Nitrite.........0
    Nitrate........5
    Ph...............6.8

    First I want to thank you for replying to my post. At this time the ammonia reading is at 0. I will take your advice and stop feeding the tank and watch to see if the nitrite and nitrate drop. I will post any changes that occur. If they drop, I will add a fish and carefully monitor for any spikes. Tanks again for your suggestion.

    Makes sense to me Bob. Some time back I started a topic on room temperature vs tank temperature, using my rack of 5 gallon tanks. I've got the same rack of 5's open for the summer. Man are DO meters crazy expensive! I did find a liquid DO test online, I've got plenty of Prime on hand, time for a bit of playing around!
