Labeotropheus fuelleborni

Family: Cichlidae

Common Name: Fuelleborni

Origin and Habitat: Africa, lake Malawi

Diet:Spirulina based food, Romaine Lettuce and De-shelled Peas

Size: 12-17cm, 4.5-6.5"

Water parameters:
Should be kept in an aquarium with the temperature ranging from 75 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit, and a Ph of around 8.2. In the wild these fish inhabit areas of high water turbulence and high oxygenation, along with shallow rocks. These conditions should be replicated as close as possible in the home Aquarium.

These fish have curved over upper lips, Males generally are solid Blue although some variations exist in the wild, Adult males develop an Orange upper and low fin, compared to a Blue body. Females generally are marbled although more common is "marmalade" orange.

In the wild these fish scavenge off algae on rocks, they require some driftwood and or an algae supplement in the home aquarium to mimic this behavior.

In Lake Malawi there have been over 30 confirmed color variations in various parts of the lake.
