Stocking a 30g recommendations

Hi everyone! Im looking to buy a 28-36gallon aquarium in the near future depending what deals i can find and i just have a quick question about stocking it. I was planning to in the end have 2 honey gouramis, 5 platies, 5 or 6 guppies, and 6 otos. I know aqadvisor isnt entirely accurate but it says that would be overstocked for a 30g tank. Would this be overstocked in your opinions? If so how would you recommend changing it? Would 2 filters be enough to solve the possible overstocking issue? I have an extra one in my current tank to use in the new one so it'll cycle faster that i plan to have in with the new filter while it builds up its own bacteria. Also wondering if all male guppies is potentially an option to avoid excessive breeding or if that'll guarantee fights. I know typically 1:3 ratio but id rather not have a bunch of babies and the males look nicer that females so i wouldnt want all females. Thanks so much!!

You might have better luck with some tetras or other slim bodied fish as far as stocking. Maybe 4-5 otos. What filter are you planning on?

honestly i have no interest in tetras really except maybe rummynose tetras but ive read theyre hard to keep alive. I only said 6 otos because i know they prefer bigger groups but i could do 4 since the minimum is 3. Aqadvisor only had me at 107% so not crazy overstocked i just dont want them to have babies and my numbers go crazy. I was planning to buy the aqueon quiet flow 30 unless the tank comes with something better and i have a top fin multistage internal filter 20 already cycled

Just realized if i switch the tank from the 28g bowfront to the 30g regular tank the stock % drops down to 85% so if i were to get a 30 or 36 gallon i guess both would be fine for my original idea

Sounds good. I try to have double the filter. It really cuts care and develops both the aerobic and anaerobic cycle. I have rummy nose in my betta tank (20g at 78F). They've been hardy keepers for me. They spent 7 hrs in a bucket with air stone yesterday when the tank busted and the temp dropped to about 72F (wouldn't have let that happen but was stuck in a storm trying to get a new tank). They are the best schooling fish I've ever had, great behavior.

Thats awesome to know actually! I considered adding them with my own betta but i dont think a 10g would be enough room for everyone but if i ever upgrade him or decide to add them in a different tank thats definitely reassuring thank you

They can fin nip, but stick to open water in the lower part of the tank. Just make sure to have enough plants for the betta to chill in. Water lettuce works great and is easy.
