Hi Tia. I think most members here will agree that API liquid test kits are the most reliable. Either the Master Test Kit or the individual test kits for at least Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH. The test strips are not as reliable.

hello and welcome
i use the API test kit.

when you set up a new tank,hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor,that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

Dr. Fosters and Smith sells the API Liquid Master Test Kit for like $16

Api liquid test kit is what I use... I've got( I've got them but dont use them) strip kits... the results aren't even can test the same water with 3 differant strips and get 3 diferant readings..
