do you mean the danio species of glowfish?..............Their was a big debate about breeding them on here a few months ago........Its illegal to breed them, the fish have been patented because of their altered color state..............I doubt if any thing would happen if you did breed them, but i just wanted to make you aware of it

It is not illegal to breed them but it is illegal to sell what you have bred. They are genetically modified zebra danios that have some jellyfish DNA in them. That fish was patented and it is a patent violation to breed and sell them. Nobody can keep you from having them breed in your own tank, they will do that with no help from you, but selling them after violates the patent.

They are patented fish that contain coral DNA not jellyfish.
No You cannot distribute them in anyway legally(from what I can remember)

You can breed them with other danios or other glow fish just as long as they are not sold or given away.

10 gallon tank - 2 Ghost shrimp, fry, 1 Soft shell turtle, 5 crayfish, 1 baby catfish
10 gallon tank - 1 marbled crayfish in berry
50 gallon tank - 2 male guppies, 1 female guppy, 2 zebra danios, 1 pearl danio, 1 Angelfish, 1 male platy, 2 female platys, 2 silvery minnows
Pond - 1 cooter, 1 RES, 4 goldfish(my baby sis poisoned my pond)

I do not think giving them away would be an issue, selling yes, but a gift? Who is to say you did not buy them at a store and give them to a friend?
