Aggressive Angels?

I have two half dollar+ sized koi angelfish that up until this past week were getting along fine. I have a male and female as they have laid many sets of eggs for me but because of the other fish in the tank, have not survived. The male is picking on the female to a point now that she has lost a fair amount of fins and Im worried. He chases her terribly now. What could of changed their behavior? Any suggestions to calm the waters? Nothing is new. 20h with good parameters. Weekly water changes. 80 degrees.

Sounds like he is trying to breed, but she's not interested. It could lead to her death. 20gal is small for a pair in a community tank. I'd probably just take one of them back to lfs or upgrade tank size and add more.
