Question New Brackish Tank Suggestions

Hi, I am setting up a 55 Gallon brackish water tank. My original plan was to have bala sharks, pictus cats, glass cats and chinese algea eaters along with a few shrimp in with a violet goby. I know that the bala sharks will need more room eventually and was planning to change everyone over to a much bigger tank next year when I get moved into a house but for now I"m in an apartment (bottom floor YAY) and can only do 55. HOWEVER, the violet goby is the main reason I want to endeavor in such a big tank and I was just reading that they are in fact brackish fish so it looks like the rest of the planned community is out. With the glass cats, pictus cats and bala sharks I think you can see where my tastes lie when it comes to fish and I was hoping to get some suggestions for brackish tank mates for my future goby. I plan to do sand substrate and keep it plenty warm and brackish for him so he needs compatible tank mates that wont pick on him. Are there any brackish fish that have a look similar to the balas etc.? And what about janitor fish? I don't care as much about looks when it comes to janitors, mainly efficiency and environment compatibility. Also I know I need fish bigger than the goby's mouth but I'd like to have room in the 55 for a small school or two at least of swimmers. Any assistance would be much appreciated
