Breeding bettas

Hello everyone I am new here. Recently I have Taken up the task to try to breed store bettas over again until I have a good quality fish!! I have my female, but no male yet. I will post a pic of my female but i need suggestions on what kind of male to get. (Color, size, ext.)
Any help would be 👍

Ok. First thing first, if you want show quality fish, theres really no point of starting with inferior stock. Its really not going ti work out well, and your never really going to get a good line going.

But to answer your question, what are you hoping the achieve - color variety and tail type? Since this looks like a female Cambodian veiltail, I'd get a male Cambodian veiltail.

I mean this nicely as possible, but you will not develop a consistent line that throws good quality stock. Even then, pet store bettas often have hidden genetics which result in the offspring not looking like their parents.

You will have a better chance - it would be hard, but at least possible! - using fish bred by a breeder thats not to standard - has faults, like uneven caudal, anal fin too long or male having an 'egg spot' for example - than using petstore bettas.
