Scratch (or maybe crack?!) Do I need a new tank?

While cleaning today i noticed there was a scratch or shallow crack on the inside of my tank, hard to capture a photo(ill try my best to post some in the morning), but it seems to reach from almost the bottom of the glass to about an inch from the top (where the water stops)

i can not feel it at all on the outside, but i can feel it with my figernail on the inside. It doesn't catch and stop my nail as i run it across, but i can feel it.
What do you think? I cant find another tank that fits this stand (that i can afford) and i inherited the tank from my dad, so i'm learning as i go..

Need more data..

1. Does the tank have any difference between front and back...Could you turn it around so the scratch is in the back? If yes then their are more options for repair.
2. Size of tank?
3. Somewhere else to put critters while you repair?
4 Suspected cause?
5. Glass shop in your area that will cut to your specification?

Here is a helpful overveiw...
