Hello guys and gals! This is my first time I have had a planted fish tank I really cared for. It is a 20 gallon long fish tank. It contains one underwater filter for 40 gallons and a sponge filter.

I have really been trying to care for this fish tank. I do about 4-5 root tabs around 3 months and inject my fish tank with flourish excel, flourish micro elements and flourish trace. Flourish Micro is used about every other day. While the other two are used on a daily basis when I remember 97% of the time. The fish tank is on a timer set for 8 hours and the chosen light is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ID3OK3S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 from amazon.

My tank consists of: 5 Gold metallic barbs , 8+ Malaysian Trumpet snails, 1 pearl Gourami, 1 Nerite snail , 3 ghost shrimp , dwarf hair grass , Rotala indica and java moss. Now I know gold metallic barbs are know for picking on plants but it seems like the fish don't seem to bother the plants besides the Rotala Indica. I bought it from amazon and it came in a very dire shape. So far the plant is recovering.

My question is should I continue on getting a pressurized c02 system. The reason I ask is because when I used the DIY citric acid and baking soda C02 generation, algae went down a lot and plants grew (especially the Rotala indica). I was at one bubble per second but I read that you should increase it so long as your fish do not show high levels of C02 intoxication. I did increase the rate but my DIY c02 could not last 2 days without being refilled. I'm planning on getting a 24oz bottle for c02 in addition all the other regulators and mechanisms to make it work.

Here are a couple of things I was gonna buy:

1.I'm trying to look for good regulators with a solenoid. I found one http://https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SNCR7TZ/?coliid=I1S24L1GQG7N82&colid=5QAN35IGMFZC&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it .

2.Tank https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XKFQCM/?coliid=I3E8L5JIS1EIZQ&colid=5QAN35IGMFZC&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it I just want to take your guys word for these items.

One more question about c02 into the tank. I still cannot seem to wrap my head around it but I know c02 makes your ph fall right? I tested it and i went from a 7 to a 6 Ph. I was very frightened about it but it seemed like my fish and plants were fine with that chnage. Besides like 2 Malaysian trumpet snails (sowy, unless they were just sleeping). I heard online that it's not your real Ph value? So like I just want more info regrading this shift. Should I use that Ph buffer stuff?

And two other questions that are not directly related to c02.

What is this plant? I bought it from pets smart (gonna stop doing that)
and it has gone through hell from my previous tank. It only really started to raise it's leaves after the c02 injection. I just think this plant is sooooooooooo cool. Attachments should be below.

And my tank is clearly overstocked right? Whoops haha

Thank you so much for reading.
