Tankmates for a 11 Gallon

Hey everyone,
Been reading for a while, first time posting.

I've had my 11 Gallon tank now for about 7 months and for the last 6 months Ive had 6 Harlequin Rasboras and 6 Amano Shrimp (originally 8 but a couple passed on fairly soon after I got them). They all seem happy now as am I but the Girlfriend wants to add some colourful tankmates. Personally I'd rather keep well on the safe side of stock in the tank so what could I get? Something "bright and colourful" that would get along nicely with the Rasboras and shrimp.
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
If you want just something colorful try neons or danios or some small tetras (cardinals and etc.), but if you want just one centre piece fish it would be harder to find something. In my experience - the prettier the fish nastier it is - especially on your shrimp. Of course you could try.. but should you risk it?
All dwarf cichlids(rams, appistos etc.), anabantoids(bettas, gouramies, dwarf gouramies) are pretty territorial. I got lucky with my betta in a comunity tank and you might get lucky with chill betta, but the rasboras might nip his fins instead and then there would be other problems. :)

Honey gouramis are peaceful usually. Maybe a betta if he's got plants to hide in. Adding to the schooling fish might work too, a few new tetras in complementing colors. Mystery snails are pretty entertaining and come in a few colors. Mine glide around the tank and roll around on moss balls.

I had a betta for a day with my shrimp one time - not the best time for the shrimp :D

What kind of filter do you have? That seems like an awful lot of fish for an 11 gallon. I was just thinking when you said some died, prob a spike in ammonia.
I would return all of them to LFS and start over with red cherry shrimps or blue dream shrimps. Let that establish then add some neon or cardinal tetras. That would be lots of color.
