Sponge filters pros & cons

As I have posted before I am setting up a 55 Gallon Tetra tank. I am planning on a Tidal 75 or a 110 to the center of the tank an possible two ATI #4 or #5 sponge filters one in each rear corners. I had sponge filters many years ago they worked fine on a 40 gallon tank with assorted Tropicals. I think my reasoning is trying to maintain pristine water. I do water changes every week. There will be quite a few small Tetras. The sponges will pick up small particals towards the lower have of the tank which most HOB filters will not catch. I sure can tell when vacuuming tank.
Looking for all the feedback I can get ton this filter set up using sponge filters. I have read where some use nothing but sponge filters on bigger tanks than a 55.

Thanks all Bill

Always remember CLEAN WATER = HEALTHY,HAPPY,FISH
