Odd behaviour?

Hi 👋 everyone. New to the fish keeping ling hobby. Have a 180l tank set up with 7 rummy nose and 4 black phantoms at present. Last night I had my lights off and when I returned from work turned them on to check things out and the fish were acting off and fairly lifeless at the bottom of the tank. I did a water chekc and ammonia Nitrite and Nitrate were all fine. I went to bed and woke up today and they were all fine acting as normal. Then iv been out today and a similar thing happened. Iv came home and they are all just either hiding out in the plants or floating along the floor of the tank. Is this normal for them in darkness or should I be worried something is up?

I would put a timer on the light (8-10hrs on). It's like turning daylight on and off for us, by turning the light on after work. It's normal for them to rest like that at night, but I'm sure they'd appreciate a more natural schedule.

sounds to me like they were resting .

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
