Question Mushed Peas...

One of my tetras may be constipated (after food bloat lasts 18-24 hrs. then is gone, have not been able to observe the 'quality ' of excrement as I have yet to see it pass) I know that mushed peas are suggested as a starting point, and I have plenty, but they're canned. It seems that the standard recommendation is frozen, but i was wondering if canned could be detrimental to either the fish or water quality for some reason that I am not seeing. I assume they're fine to use as long as they haven't had salt added? I was hoping to use them tonight when I did the midnight feeding, but my grocery store was (somehow) out of the frozen ones w/o butter.

canned may have weird preservatives added that i wouldn't suggest adding to a fish tank even after rinsing

One of the brands I buy lists the only ingredients as water and peas, so i know the preservatives aren't an issue there, but can there be any problems from them being packed in the metal?

Fantastic! I've been trying to find that out for the past six hours, and somehow, my searches have been fruitless.
