Angry Liveaquaria.com Beware

Don't know if there is a forum for warnings about vendors or not. Purchased 10 cardinal tetras from Liveaquaria.com (which I later found out was a shell company for Drs Foster and Smith and Petco [or Petsmart, I'm not sure which]). Two were DOA on Friday morning and the rest are dead as of this morning. Since I didn't take photos of the carcasses, their "warranty" is void.
Just be careful purchasing fish from this company.

Its foster and smith they are associated with.

Buying fish online is always a risk, but to be completely honest so is buying fish at the LFS. Your story is not unique to online ordering.

Ive never bought from them, but I have bought quite a few fish online from aquabid. Reputation is super important in a competitive space like that so many sellers are willing to bend over backwards to make people happy. One place I ordered from gave me a credit for all the DOAs, even though their policy stated only for overnight deliveries. Ive never paid for overnight. Just because their policy says no about something doesnt mean they wont do it - just means they want to have control of it. Funny thing was I didnt even ask them to do it - I just sent them pictures of the dead fish.

I think youre far more likely to get better service buying from aquabid.

I understand you can not use it now because you tossed them but for future reference...They have a 14 day guarantee not just DOA.

I have placed several orders with them and had no problems. Well some...their out of stock process is schizophrenic...no warning on site and just missing from shipped email (if the shipped email comes before items arrive.) It may be that I am ordering simple stuff (plants, snails, and Danios.)

Alternate suggestions that are close in price...

I've bought a lot of fish from Liveaquaria and have lost a lot of those fish but the cause was my fault. An example was Dwarf Gouramis. I have an acrylic tank on which the top is mostly covered. I had too much water and very little space above the water. I didn't have an aerator at the time. All of the Gouramis died before I read that they need to breathe air at the surface. Even though it was my fault, Liveaquaria credited my card for the dead fish. They have similarly helped me with other loses. I think they are a great company to work with.

I would add that I haven't had good luck with Neon or Cardinal Tetras. No matter if they were bought from Liveaquaria or from local shops. They are pretty and should withstand (especially Cardinals) a wide variety of water conditions, they just don't last in my aquarium even when my test kit says that conditions should be perfect. I crossed them off my list.

I should note that researching causes for dying Cardinals is how I found this forum. I read that many other people have had the same experience with one dead and a day or two later another dead and so on.
