Is brown algae edible?

My tank has recently had troubles with brown algae. I don't mind as it is very easy to remove with an algae scraper.
However, as the excess algae scraped off sinks to the floor of the aquarium, I worry about waste and debris build up. Do the fish eat this brown algae or should I attempt to siphon it out whenever I clean?
Thanks :)

I'd siphon it out. Most fish don't seem to eat brown algae from what I've read, very few species seem to enjoy munching on it.

There are very few fish that will eat it but one that comes to mind is Otos. However they need to be placed in mature tanks that have stable water conditions. I would just scrape it off and then siphon out the excess that hits the bottom as Jen as mentioned.

My Nerites like it. They like green algae better.
