what are silicates? i still don't quite understand what they are....
Interesting read. The use of silica sand could save a nice crisp $100 bill on a large tank. Has anyone here actually used silica sand in their reef? Austin?
By the way, i've used silica sand for years in FW setups with no visual negatives to report.
No silica sand in my tank. Always used Aragonite sand and "if it aint broke, dont try to fix it". I had enough problems with Diatoms with the recent move that I really dont think I could tolerate any increase in soluble silica. As it is now, I think I'll be looking into de-sponging one of my Orange Bam-Bam Zoanthid colonies.
