What is causing ph levels to drop

I've got a buddy that has a 55 gal and the rundown is:

Size: 55Gal

Temp: 75-8

Last ph check: was about 6.0

Stocking: 4 Large Silver Dollars, 3 Bala Sharts, 7 Sharpae Tetra

Water changes: 10-15% Once a week

Not sure why it keeps dropping any ideas?

only one thing drops ph, ACID determining the form and delivery is the trick, waste build up is a big factor so bioload etc, supplements added, C02,low gas exchange (tight cover) I normally add crushed coral to my substrate or add it to a container and run water thru it to raise and maintain ph

I think also some types of driftwood might cause a drop in PH.

co2 will definitely drop ph. if you are using a ca reactor you might want to add a kalkwasser reactor to counter act the co2 or add a second chamber to the ca reactor.

100 Gal SPS Rimless, 2X250 Watt + 4T5's Giesemann infinity, Bubble King Mini 200 skimmer, Ca reactor, DIY Kalk Reactor. See my Reef aquarium in HD video http://www.fishtanks.net/fishtank.php?fishtank=2207.
