went to lfs and asked how they controlled hair algae and they told me that they no longer use sponges or any type of remover but add vodka instead?. They said it gives the something else to eat?. I have only been doing this for a couple of years but never heard of this, so can somebody tell me what to do or how much to add for a 65 gal tank. Thanks MK.:)

There's a lot of chemistry that goes into vodka dosing. One of the main things to be careful of when adding any carbon source, like vodka, is to not do it too quickly all at one. There are many discussions going on now in regards to this topic, some nay saying others praising it. With a good skimmer, refugium and low nutrient input (AKA don't over feed) you can acquire the same clean affect as adding vodka. If you really want to dose vodka, DO YOUR RESEARCH before you ever start anything like this. It could kill your entire tank. If you want help with this here's a good link to get you started on your way.

Two opinions to take what you want yourself.
