I have had a 45 gallon tank for 8 years, and I am now experiencing high GH and KH levels. Does anyone have any suggestions in how to lower these levels without affecting my fish?

Thanks

Thank you!!! From your response and from a couple others, I will be using the 75(tap)/25(RO) technique as a gradual change. So when I have my levels reading acurately then I can share photos of my tank. Thank you so much for your reply and wisdom! :)

Hey - I have always used my tap water for my tank only over the years, and my water always tested out good. My town in CA is now having problems with their well water, and I have noticed in the last 2 months that my tap water has been getting worse. I have recently purchased an RO unit connected to my drinking water and ice maker(so the membrane is new), so I will be doing a gradual water change using 75(tap water)/25(RO water) to try to lower my readings.

thanks for your response - tylbeck
