Well, I've decided...

I'm getting a pretty big tank here in the next few days. Sadly, can't set it up until I move into a bigger place. It's supposed to be 100gallons, but we'll see. I was going to set it up with fish, but have decided not to. While I like my fish, my heart belongs to reptiles. And what better reptile than a bearded dragon?

My first reptile was a bearded dragon, and her name was Miss Priss. She was my baby and I spoiled her rotten! Sadly, after ten fantastic years with her, she passed away. I've had a rescued dragon here and there since then, with the intentions only to bring the dragon back to good health with proper care and feeding, then find him/her good loving homes. So, since Miss Priss I really haven't 'had' a bearded dragon and now I full plan on getting my next one. Since this tank is going to be a lot bigger than my past tanks, I've got some big plans for it  and here they are:

The substrate will, of course, be ceramic tiles. Going to look for ones that look like slate for the most part. Well, I'm going to take the tiles and break them into different shapes and make them look more natural. They will be held to the floor of the cage using either silicone or something along those lines. If silicone, I'll be sprinkling the top of the silicone that shows between the tiles with sand to create the look of a natural area of lots of rock 'pushed' into the earth. I'll be building a background using driftwood, rocks, sand, etc. using Great Stuff and some other misc. ingredients to hold it in place. It'll have several ledges so he/she can get around to different hights. Of course there will be caves (I plan to build some on my own), more driftwood, etc. throughout the tank for basking or hiding. And maybe if I find a fake cactus or something I like I'll put those in.

I'm searching through breeders at the moment, because I want to find that perfect dragon. Hoping to find a fire tiger (with the blue/purple bars) German giant, or a citrus tiger (with blue/purple bars) German giant. I'm planning to be real picky...lets just hope non of the ones at the pet stores catch my eye

If anyone knows a QUALITY breeder of dragons that may have this, please point me in his/her direction! Oh, and here's a pic of my beloved Miss Priss chilling with me at the pool :)

Trust me, there will be more pictures than you can handle :p
Thanks for the compliment on Miss Priss. She was the best, and went with me everywhere! Even some of my teachers in high school became 'lizard sitters' during school hours when I brought her lol!

So, I have the big tank but still won't set it up until I move BUT just couldn't wait on the dragon. Found someone selling German Giant X Red babies in my area and picked one up today. Also picked up a FREE 20g long tank and stand!!! Wanted to share some pics of the little one :D
Been calling the little one 'Booger' lol but haven't fully chosen a name yet. Settling in quite well and is basking right now. SOO cute!

Here's a size reference:

Not the best pic, but you can kinda see the blue on his/her back:

This little one wrapped his/her 'hands' around my index finger and just held on while I was there. The guy was very nice and even sent me home with a container of calcium and has invited me to go to a reptile show with them here soon (Feb. I believe). Can't wait to watch this little baby grow into a beautiful dragon :D

Haha, yeah! This will be my first time raising one from a baby. Going to love to watch the changes in color and such as he/she grows. Gotta love beardies!

Miss Priss, my first dragon, only brumated I think once or twice. It's odd how different they are.

Well, he's now being shy and doesn't like me near him at all. I'll post more once he's warmed up to me and over the relocation stress.
