DIY Background for Beardies?

I've seen a lot of people make their own background out of foam and cement for fishtanks, but has anyone done it for a reptile? How did it turn out?

I'm getting the boyfriend a couple of beardies for christmas and want something more than just a "stick to the back" desert scene...

I'm trying to do the same thing! I have snakes and leopard geckos, and I want to set up some really cool vivariums for them. Right now they jsut have basic stuff, and I guess that's okay, but I want to have really "wow" terrariums.

I'm not sure about backgrounds, but I have limited income right now so this project is probably goign to take awhile. I asked the guys at the local pet store about foam, and they said you get it at home depot, but that it's not the best to use, because it can deteriorate after awhile, and mold too. But it probably wouldn't mold in a beardie tank, cuz they're supposed to be desert animals... but anyway they said silicone is better, but I'm not really sure what that is or even how to use it.

Silicone is like the glue that you use to stick your background to the tank. I know for fishtanks you're supposed to use GE 1 silicone (that's a brand) because a lot of other stuff has added chemicals to make it resistant to mold but that's bad for going in water because it can poison your fish.
