Anyone keep newts?

I've recently been having a move about with my four tanks and was thinking of getting turtles but after reading a lot about them have decided even my biggest (29gal) tank isn't big enough for them.

So I've decided to keep semi-aquatic newts instead - I've been reading about the various fire bellied newts and really like them.

I want to get something I can eventually try to breed though - does anyone keep these creautures and had luck breeding them?

If not, anyone keep any other aquatic or semi-aquatic newts etc and bred them?

Also, can they live with fish or African Dwarf Frogs? I was thinking of getting a few newts and putting them in my 29gal tank. I can move my fish into other tanks no problem, EXCEPT for my ruby shark who has got massive and needs a lot of room. He's rarely agressive and I was wondering if he could live with newts or not? If not, I have a 65 litre tank (17gal?) with 5 ADFs? Would much rather keep them separate though.

wont the fish wanna snack on the newt if he's large enough?

My girlfriend and I have a ten gallon tank with a fire belly newt and a fire belly toad. Take a look at the my aquariums tab on my profile. I am not sure about breeding them we didn't look into it at all. I will tell you that keeping them with anything else can be tricky. It depends on how big the tank and therefore how much water you are hoping to have. Hopefully enough for the shark. The other thing that you should know is that anything that will fit into its mouth it will try to eat and they have huge mouths, you wouldn't expect it.
