18x18x18 Vivarium

We've only ever kept fish but we got a great Black Friday deal on a small 18x18x18 vivarium with stand and light.

No idea what to do with it.

We're thinking gecko or frog. Is there anything else that can go in something that small?

Also, any recommendations on what type of gecko? Gecko is how I'm leaning right now.

Thanks!

We're suckers for a great deal.

Basically the stand and the light were free. How could we pass it up, lol?
I haven't even brought it home yet. We weren't planning on buying it and we didn't have space in the car. Also we were running late.

I need to do some serious research. I have no idea how to set up one of these.

It'll be fantastic, and you get to use all of those cool bog plants *nodnod* I have ALWAYS wanted a vivarium, and the creatures that live there are so amazing. Love Geckos, and those little treefrogs with the sticky fingers *grins* I'm jealous! Too bad it isn't bigger, but you gotta start somewhere, neh - great deal on a full set up!

nice deal .
gecko sounds a nice idea.
have a look on youtube at peoples setups, either type in gecko set ups
or frogs...some people on there even show you how they set it all up.
good luck, and hope you have a lot of fun.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

It's still all wrapped up in our laundry room. We won't have money to set it up until after the holidays. I think we know WHERE it's going now, possibly. We need more outlets in our basement.

More outlets. . . yeah, I have that problem, too! Wanna give us the 'sneak peek' into where it *might* be going? Inquiring minds are DYING to know!

So rather than describe the space, here it is. In the basement with the big tank, which is the only tank there. First I'm going to make sure I can maintain it warm enough with the lamp. I like this spot, it's right between both couches.

As you can see, it's not even unwrapped yet. That green is cardboard packaging, the vivarium is all black.

My old camera wouldn't even take pictures in the basement anymore.

Man, we put the big tank on layaway in May and didn't pay it off until the end of September, and in all that time I never got around to painting those walls.
