I just today got my hands on an old school "river tank" 10 gallon setup. for those of you who remember them, anyway :) I dont have any of the original hardware that goes with it, just the tank, and the plastic back wall. I was wondering if you guys had any neat ideas as to what I can modify it to do, and what kind of crawly creatures you might think to put in there!

the set up basically is a 3 part aquarium by design. water flows from the top, through a channel at the back of the tank, and into the first section. when it over flows it creates a sort of waterfall into the second, and same to the third. Id like to keep the back wall, and remove one of the sections to allow perhaps an amount of sand or gravel at one end, and a waterfall at the other. the size of the tank and the thickness of the backwall really limits what can go in there, that would leave about 8g worth of tank space. If i did something terrestrial like (a) hermit crab(s) i could lower the water dramatically, or I could build up the gravel so the waterfall side would be water, and spashdown into a pool of water with gravel at the far end.

are there any types of lizards or crabs that would enjoy such a setup? I cant wait to get a-cuttin, so throw me any ideas you guys might have!! :D

It should be okay. I've looked into your latest thread. Can't wait to see the outcome of the vivarium. I'd prefer to wait before buying what we suggested and figure out the best creature you think will fit in your vivarium.

LOL...Daz's suggestion is awesome. I like that salamander.8)

hey, do you folks (firebelly girl?) think firebellied frogs like climbing? i was considering about doing a 2 level tank with branches to connect the levels, separated by a waterfall/pond in the center of the tank.
