why does the color fade

i have a 40G tank that just finished cycling. sometimes after i turn the light off for a little while the color on a few of my tiger barbs and red eye tetras fade. the color then eventually returns to normal after i leave the light on.
is this normal or is there something wrong?

It's normal. Some fish "sleep" during the dark therefore their colors become faded as they become inactive.:)
