So Phillipe here seems to have a purple-ish spot on her back...I noticed it right after I moved her from one of my tanks to the other... It was bigger before, like double the size, but it's been two days and she's kinda chillin' near the tanks bottom over by the filter not doing much. Should I move her to my quarantine tank? It's not fluffy and there isn't more than one spot. Sorry for the back picture quality, I tried to circle the spot to make it easier...
Thanks!

Is it a blister kind of thing or like a patch on her body? Can you post water parameters, tank size and what kind of fish she is? She looks like a SAE or something? Is it possible to get a better picture?

It's just a little patch on her body. She's a Cherry Barb...in a 14 gallon tank with 2 other Cherry Barbs and 3 Cories.
pH is 8.0 Nitrate- 0
Nitrite- 0 Amonia- .01

This was the best I could do. =( I guess it gives the spot in better perspective...

Sorry for the double post...
I noticed last night that she's not really eating much either and I was wondering if it could harm anything to put one little capsule of Bettamax in there....it's all I have at the moment...and it appears like it would try to solve whatever problem she has...

Help!

Well, your tank isn't anywhere close to being cycled. You need to do water changes every day to keep your levels down. Better yet, return the fish.

As to the disease, it looks like it could be some fungal thing caused by ammonia poisoning. Her behaivor is common when ammonia is present. Look up the medication by Jungle... I forgot what it is called. I am no expert on meds.

This tank has been set up for over a year, so it should be cycled... and the rest of my fish are fine...
But I'll try doing little water changes everyday to see if that helps...and looking up that medicine...
Thanks!

What are you testing with? The strips? A liquid test kit is a must if you don't already have one, it is more expensive at first but lasts forever and saves you a lot of money. How often are you changing the water? Your tank is no where near over stocked and has been set up for a year so I don't understand where you're getting the ammonia reading from. Have you added any fish lately? And finally is the thing on the fish smooth or fluffy kind of? It sounds more fungal/bacterial I have used API liquid fungus cure in the past but it's nasty stuff and dyes your tank green. So you may want to look into another fungal med if you don't like the idea of it staining the tank a bit.

That makes no sense if you have no nitrates and some ammonia then. As stated, what are you testing with?

I'm testing with a liquid test (Red Sea brand)... I think I might have read the colors wrong about the nitrates because I just did a nitrate test and it said 5 after a 50% water change last night... =/
I tested the water coming out of the tap and that has .01 ammonia in it too! So maybe that's where the ammonia is coming from?
I try to take out at least 2 gallons every week...
I haven't added any new fish but I had moved my Cherry Barbs to my quarantine tank last week to see if I wanted to keep them over there... and I moved them back at the beginning of this week.

The thing on the fish is pretty smooth looking. It also seems to have gotten even smaller over the last day or so, it's not gone, just smaller.

I'll look into those meds. Thank you!
