what is this?

i noticed one of my kuhli loaches has something going on on its skin. its like a white cracking or maybe little cuts. tank parameters are normal ph is 7.5 steady ammonia and nitrites 0 and all other fish in the tank are fine. this kuhli was one of the more shy ones and i wondered if this wasnt from him trying to hide in between the slate that i used for caves. ive redone the caves so there is less small gaps for it to get scratched on. and finished the full conversion form gravel to sand(had about 1/4 of the tank still gravel but it was round and not sharp)

i just wanted to know if any of you had seen this and if there was something i could do to stop this from happening and maybe speed recovery along.

heres a pic i took today.

im really worried about this fish. the skin doesnt seem to be getting worse but it also doesnt seem any better. and now the fish seems very lethargic. even during feeding he only ate what was right in front of him while the other 5 kuhlis zip around and have their mini feeding frenzy.

i feed them tetramin granules, wardley shrimp pellets, and frozen blood worms. i do the granules every morning just a tiny pinch, at night i do one of the pellets or like once a week the worms but only like half a cube.

im just really unfamiliar with fish diseases the only 2 ive ever seen were pop-eye and fin rot. please help what all can i do to help clear up his skin? i did nearly a 20 % water change 2 days ago. i dont have a qt tank.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your fish. I still think it would be a good idea if someone could help figure out what the problem was so you could prevent it from happening to your other fish.

You posted all of your relevant tank info, which is helpful, but I'm just not experienced enough with fish diseases or injuries to really know what the problem was. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
