I had a problem yesterday with my fishes eyes looking cloudy and so on and so forth. I woke up this morning and 7 fish where dead. And 3 more are dying. I just tested the water and the nitrate was 10 ppm, ammonia 0.25ppm, nitrite 0-0.25ppm( I couldn't really tell) and ph was 7.6. I've added a water conditioner that removes nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia. But my fish don't seem to be doing any better. Have I done everything I can do and some might might it and some might not? Or is there something else I can do.
Do a water change of 25-50%. This will get the ammonia and nitrites down some. Keep changing water every 2-3 days to keep the levels down. I am assuming the tank is still pretty new so it is still cycling.
As for using chemicals to remove nitrites and ammonia, water changes are a much better option as the chemicals may just make things worse later on. Even when using them, you need to do a good gravel vac with the water change to remove the ammonia and nitrites that were "removed" by the chemicals.
I agree with F4A. Water changes are the way to go. It's a more permanent and safer way of removing the amonia etc. All you can do really now is do thr water changes and hope the levels go down ASAP. You could IMHO do a 20% water change daily rather than every 2-3 days if your levbels stay high too long.
I'd stay away from adding any chemicals - if anything, it makes matters worse and will mess up your cycling process. Just do water changes like suggested, and ONLY add dechloinator.

What was the water conditioner you used? "Prime" is the only one I know of that will detoxify ammonia and nitrite. If it is Prime you're using, I definately recommend you continue to use it, and like the other posts above, that you step up the water changes. Also be aware that Prime's detoxifying effects are temporary. (about 24 hours)
