I had a silver angelfish for about 4 weeks, everything was fine. Then all of a sudden 3 days ago I noticed he was invading the territory of a dwarf gourami on purpose, and when the gourami chased him out he just tilted to the side and let the gourami peck at him. It's so strange because he was doing it on purpose. He just kept antagonizing the other fish to peck at him, then I left today for about a half hr, came home and he was dead at the bottom of the tank, before I left he was alive and well just swimming as usual. I'm concerned because I have 2 other angels in my tank and I'm confused as to what could have caused such strange behavior. He also seemed bloated starting 3 days ago, has anyone ever witnessed this behavior before?
Water prm: no ammonia , no nitrites, nitrates are good, ph is 7.8
tank mates: 2 other angels, similar size and color, 2 dwarf gouramis, 8 danios, 8 serpae tetras, and 4 botia (polkadot) loaches
AQ size: 100 gallon (long)
It's a young tank, 2 months old, used filter media from one of my other tanks to cycle the tank fish-in and all has been peaceful and harmonic in this tank up until now =\
I am baffled :(
Mt gouramis occasionally chase other fishies out of their space and they leave and thats the end of it, this angel was literally going up to both gouramis throughout the past 3 days and then tilting to one side or even upwards so the gourami would peck him, my other gourami jsut avoided him and left, but I think he got bullied to death, but... on purpose? why! He used to run if a gourami chased him away
