Splitting up meds???

Okay I have Furan-2 for a bacterial infection my Scarlet Badis has on its tail. The meds is a powder that comes in a package. Each package is setup for 10 gallons of water. My hositpla tank is a 5.5 gallon tank. Its the only tank I have empty and it was given to me soo I need to use it instead of treating my whole tank.

Sooo my question is how is the best way to split it up??

You can fold the packet in half, and manipulate the powder so that there is half on each side. You can easily compare the two sides that way. It won't be exact, but it will be pretty close.

I have thought of that too ..
I was also wondering about putting the meds in say 8oz of water and mix it up then pour 4oz into the tank? That serves 2 proposes
1st, It insures the meds are diluted and mixed up in water good.
2nd, It would to easier to half 8oz of water then a package of powder. Any thoughts????

Dump it out, make two equal piles, use accordingly. Per the instructions you need to remed daily, with a water change so it will break down in water in a relativity short amount of time. You don't want it doing that in a glass of water.

Seems like it would make a mess - separating it in the package keeps things nice and tidy. But good luck - I'm sure you'll figure out what works best for you.
