Is this something to worry about?

I noticed today on one of my tetras fins a couple white marks. They seem to have appeared over night pretty much. There might have been very light marks there before but not this big. I've attached a couple pictures so everyone can see. The marks are on it's tail and pectoral fins. Also none of the other fish are showing any signs of white marks anywhere on them. Now some background on my tank...

Stocking is 5 black widow tetras, 2 swords and a few cherry shrimp. The cherry shrimp are the only thing that's changed in the tank in teh past 2-3 months. I got them 2 days ago from a very good LFS that has clean water knowledgeable staff.

Water changes atleast once I week of about 40% sometimes two 30% changes.

ammonia 0-.25 I always have trouble reading this one, nitrite is 0, and nitrAte is around 1-2 ppm.

Might be fin rot, do the fins look nibbled at all?

No his fins are fine except for the couple of white marks. Even where the marks are his fins are complete and the right shape. I was thinking fin rot too though. I see people recommend Melafix for fin rot is that something I should try if it doesn't get better in a couple days? I don't like using medications but don't want him to rot away either.

Well, for a few days keep an eye out on the fins. If it is fin rot the fins will start becoming shorter and whiter.
You can use salt too, I can't remember how much per gallon off the top of my head

Alright so a little update. The spot has not become better or worse. There is still a white spot along his fins and the one on his pectoral fin is kind of a bump. Any ideas or treatments? none of my other 4 tetras are showing anything like this.
