i have 4 tanks i know the 2.5,and the 5 gallon is established since they went through multiple cartridge changes.the 45 gallon is still new and stilll on it' first cartridge. and the 10 gallon is on it's second it recently housed some fish but then when we moved i had to empty it and the othe fish that were were in there are now in the 45 gallon. i ude some stuff tat creates benificial bacteria but i don't know how effective it's been since i used it. it's zyte + stress it adds bacteria and helps with the fish so that don't stress i only add it during weekly water changes

IMO the additives may help a little but are not going to cycle a tank. I would take the cartridge from the oldest tank, assuming the cartridge has been in for at least 1.5-2 weeks. At 10 weeks of ups and downs with the cycle starting and stopping, I finally added a used cartridge and got it going. Good luck.
