Sick Paradise Fish!

I have a wee Paradise fish in a 2.5 gallon tank with a few plants in a mug with pebbles in the base and 4 floating plants at the top. The tank sits near a window but not in direct sunlight. It(I say 'it' as not sure of the sex, think may be male so will say he from now on) was getting fed a small fish flake everyday.

About a month ago he started acting strangely, not as communicative/interactive as usual and he started rocking backwards and forwards from tail to head. I started to doing more regular part water changes but that does not seem to have helped so I went to a local Tropical Fish Shop and asked what they thought about it all. They reckoned he may have got an air bladder infection from eating the flakes and recommended feeding him some frozen blood worms for a while and see if there was any improvement. I was thinking he may have recovered slightly as he wasn't rocking as much, his colour had improved and he was starting to swim around the tank more. However I think he may now also have a small bit of what looks like a white fuzz on one side of his mouth. I have tried taking some photos but I can't get any good ones despite him not moving about.

I was going to go to the fish shop, but they will be closed by the time I get there so I thought I would ask here before going to see them tomorrow.

Thank you for any help in advance.

Sounds fungal because of the fuzziness but fungal infections are far less common than bacterial. I would Google image diseases to see if you can find a close match to what is on your fish.

And what are your water params. for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph?

That's an awfully small tank to house a paradise fish in. Recommended minimum size is approx. 25 gallons for them (check out the fish profiles at the top of the main page).

I hope you can figure out what's wrong.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
