I have a golden tetra who is sick, but I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Here are the stats of my tank and of the fish:
10 gallon tank
3 golden tetras
1 Flame Tetra
1 Bristlenose Plecco
Heater (temp. is normal)
Filter (working properly)
Ammonia levels, nitrates, nitrites are all normal.
I moved about a month and a half ago, but he was fine then. I've 3 water maintenance changes since then, the most recent about 3 days ago when I first noticed he was ill. I re-checked all the levels, everything was fine.
His symptoms: while the other fish are growing normally, he almost seems to be 'shrinking'. He is thin, although he does eat, and he is very lethargic, resting on plants or the bottom of the tank. He seems to prefer not to swim, although he will if he has too, but then just falls right back down to whatever he was resting on. His color is paler as well.
The rest of the fish are healthy and acting normally.
My only thought is that my driftwood tanins are still affecting the water and I have had the wood for a year now - the water is still a golden color. Could that be affecting him even though I've had the wood for awhile?
