Hello all, o.kay, here's the scoop.
I have a 10g fresh water tank, in it are two platy's (sunburst I think), one baby pleco (about 1 1/2 inches long), and one dwarf frog who is about 4-5yrs old. The tank has been set up for about two months, not cycled yet but almost there.
No live plants, temp is currently 77.3 degrees F. I'm using the AquaClear Mini for a filter, it has a sponge for trapping small particles, Active carbon, and an Ammonia remover. No CO2. It sees sun alot of the day, but only sees direct sunlight for about an hour. No lights.
Last water change was yesterday, I changed 8L. Which is when I noticed that my frog was growing a white afro. I've been changing the water every other day.
I feed the frog sinking pellets once every other day. I feed the platy's blood worms everyday. They seem to really like them.
My water params in the tank are:
pH - 7.4 - 7.6
KH - 30
GH - 40
Amm - 0.6
Ntrite - 0.3
Ntrate - 20
I moved the frog to a small 2L container so that I can medicate him. I used all new water because I don't know what the problem is or where it started. His water params are:
pH - 7.2
KH - 20
GH - 20
Amm - 0
Ntrite - 0
Ntrate - 0
I'm using Mycopur water treatment for fungal infections, skin and gill flukes in freshwater aquariums. It's by Sera.
I don't even know for sure if it's a fungal infection that he has. He spent a lot of time yesterday with his head stuck out of the water, and today his afro is gone. However he has a number of white splotches on his back. They look a bit fuzzy.
What is it?
How do I treat it?
Should I be using the tank water with him?
Any help is appreciated, thank you for your time.
