Should permantent aqua chargers be removed first...

...before doing salt tx for ich? I've already started the salt tx and asked before I started, but nobody here answered. If they do need removed first, is it too late to remove the aqua chargers? If nobody here knows the answer is there a place you can direct me to that would possibly know the answer?
