searching for help!!

Hello all. I am new here and desperately trying to find information. I noticed very small (size of the end of a needle) white lice/leeches. I don't know how long they have been there I have a 30 gal oxtagnol tank. There a quite a few of them are they dangerous to the fish. I asked a petco employee and she told me to use some aquarium salt. Please help!!

Thanks, Ryan Z NY

Okay, planaria are small white creatures that "inch" along the glass.
There are other true aquatic worms and aquatic stages of insects that will be seen from time to time in an aquarium.
Copepods are little whiteish pin head sized critters that swim in irradic patterns in the water column and often spend a lot of time on the glass.

All of them will be eaten by most smaller fish.

Most of them are completely harmless so unless you think it is truely a leech then I wouldn't worry too much.

My guess is planeria, those are usually what the wormy things you see in an aquarium is. They're harmless and usually caused by overfeeding. Why don't you look up a photo online just to check that is in fact what they are?

I would cut down your feeding and see if the population diminishes, if you wish to get rid of them, (assuming you have no other invertibrates in the tank), you can do a treatment of copper and then siphon out the bodies during your next water change.
