So, its been a while since I had to post...and I'm very sad to be here posting again! Altho, so many of you are so helpful. Well, once I got my 55g tank straightened out, and was beginning to stock my tank. A family member was selling her 75g and had 2 kissing gourami's and a catfish that she was going to put down b/c the people didn't want the fish with the tank. I decided I would adopt these fish, and its been a nightmare. I should have walked away when I saw the dirty water she brought them in, but, being naive, I took them and placed them in my tank minus the dirty water. I pulled the catfish back out after noticing a sore under his belly. I tried treating him in separate from the other fish and he didn' t make it over nite. I noticed he had a filmy covering over his skin and the gourami's had cloudy eyes. I had some neon tetras in the tank and one red velvet wag. I started to take a closer look at the smaller fish and it looked as if they had ich and fin rot. I went to get meds right away and started to tread the tank at half dose, have treated for two days now and this morning i find a tetra on the floor in front of the tank. Just tonite one of the gouramis died. I don't think the other will last much longer. I did a water change right before I started to treat the tank. I checked my water levels today and everything is normal. I feel like I'm just waiting on all of them to die off now. I don't like to watch them suffer. Should I continue to treat or try to put them down? Also, I was wondering, Im pretty sure I will have to start my tank completely over, should I boil all the rocks and decorations and empty all the water out of the tank. I don't want to get anymore fish diseased. I'm still fairly new to this and have yet to be able to enjoy my tank. I need a "Dummies guide to fish keeping " i guess. thanks in advance for all your help.

What are you treating your tank for/with? You need to know what is wrong before deciding what the correct medication is. If you are using antibiotics, it will affect the bacteria in your filter and you probably will need to cycle your tank again, but I don't think you need to empty it (depending on what is wrong with the fish).
