Rainbow shark needs help!

A few days ago I noted what appeared to be a scrape of some kind on the nose of my Rainbow Shark. I assumed maybe he got into a scuffle with the other one and got pushed up against one of my more jagged ornaments (I've since removed the ornaments that I believe to be the culprit).

His nose has NOT gotten better and I think that it may be something more severe. I have been adding aquarium salt in hopes that it would help him to no avail. Can anyone tell me what they think this is? It has gotten bigger since I first saw it like it is spreading. He acts normal though. Sorry, not the best pictures, couldn't get him to sit still.





As you can see, it kind of looks like an open wound but it has been spreading down the side of his "nose" which is mildly visible in the second picture.

Ouch! The poor baby. I can't help with what it is but I hope someone else can. That looks very painful.

I went ahead and called up my local pet shop and they gave me Melafix, a natural extract from tea trees that I am cycling over 7 days. Seems like it may be clearing up a little bit but only time will tell. I sure hope it works, feel so bad for this little guy.
