quick question regarding antibiotic use

So I had a little baby fish this morning get sick out of nowhere, and I used some Maracyn two. I had two fish in the tank, the little baby blue jack dempsey that got sick, and also a small clown Pleco. The clown Pleco is completely fine and has nothing wrong. EBJDs just tend to get sick of nowhere when this small.

Well the little blue died today unfortunately. I'm wondering if I need to continue to finish with the antibiotic treatment, or can I just stop using it now and do a good water change. I've only dosed the tank once with the Maracyn, I did it 12 hours ago. The clown pleco is the only fish in there, and he's fine.

I don't want to keep treating the tank with Maracyn two and force my Pleco to go through with it. Plus I don't want to waste any of it if I don't have to. I highly doubt theres any sort of outbreak in my tank. Its just really a hit or miss raising these baby EBJDs since they're so fragile when this small. They really need a UV sterilizer when growing up (which unfortunately broke).

So can I stop the Maracyn? Thanks

By all mean stop if it's not needed. No point in treating something that isn't there. You should also do water changes to filter out the antibiotics or you carbon filter media (pads and pellets), and of course monitor your fishes health for any changes.

Okay thanks. Thats what I thought, just wanted to make sure since the packaging says to "always finish treatment even if symptoms clear before treatment is finished."
