Quarantine Tanks..

Hey all, thinking about setting up a quarantine take. At this point I've only got a 10g tank with 5 Cherry Barbs, but looking into the future as to what I might want both tank and fish wise. Would a quarantine tank benefit me? I know you're supposed to quarantine new additions to the tank for ..what 2-4 weeks? If it would benefit me, should I actually set up a mini version complete with heater, filter, substrate and even decor? I'd think if someone was going to keep fish quarantined for any length of time/serious reason..the fish would be better off with very good water conditions. correct?

It is a very good idea to qt any new fish.
My qt tank is a bare bottomed tank with a house and a few fake plants. I keep a sponge in the filter of my tank, when setting up the qt for a new fish, I place the sponge in the qt tank filter to seed the cycle.
I found it best to not use gravel. If any new fish are diseased, or you need to use the qt tank for a diseased fish, disinfecting the tank afterwords is a lot easier without the use of gravel.
For any tropical fish, you will need a heater for the qt tank.

Thanks bunches Twistersmom, I wouldn't have thought about not using gravel, but that does make since making it easier to clean.
