Potential Neon Tetra disease

Hey guys, was watching one of my neon tetras, and he always seemed to be away from the shoal, always by himself at least 85% of the time whenever the lights were on. Also, his red strip has faded away, so now its almost transparent. I have quarantined him in my other tank *which is a shrimp tank* to see how things go, but I don't think it'll be getting any better. Just wanted to double check with you guys to see if my diagnosis is correct. He doesn't seem restless, but does spend a lot of time apart from the rest of the fellows. And his red line is almost color-less; its a very very light red now, with some transparent/white patches. Thanks!

I've had a few neon's off and on that that has happened to, but the whitish/faded patch always was on the blue stripe, eventually their spine became bent and they would swim erratically, usually I euthanised them at that point. I don't know whether it was NTD or false NTD. It isn't contagious unless another fish feeds on the remains of the ill fish.

Ah, I see. Well, he seems to be looking a lot better in quarantine, so I reintroduced him into the bigger tank. Maybe his color was fading because of him not being in the light. I'll keep a eye on him for now, but now I feel a little happier as he is with his friends again. I felt really sad that I had to keep him away from the others, but it was a necessity as to make sure the whole stock isn't threatened.
